Youth Service and Friendship

Last Sunday, the Senior High Youth Group met with the 8th grade students who will be moving up to the Senior High group next year.  They played games to get to know each other better and had the opportunity to experience what they can expect next year.  The event was a great success and the new students are really looking forward to “moving up”!

The Junior High group participated in activities at Seabury Woods Nursing Home on Wednesday, April 23rd.  They hosted a game night and followed up with ice cream sundaes for all.  Young and old alike had a great time sharing each other’s company.

On Sunday, April 27th, 15 of our Holy Ghost students attended the Junior High Youth Rally at Camp Stella Maris on

Conesus Lake.  The Diocese Youth Committee, DYC, hosted the event and directed activities.  A warm, sunny day made this gathering of over 300 Junior High students from around the Rochester Diocese truly a day to remember.  Our youth participated in team building exercises and had the opportunity to make new friends in Christ. The afternoon came to a spiritual close with Mass offered by Bishop Matthew Clark who recapped the teachings and message brought to the

United States during Pope Benedict’s recent visit.  Hope… and the understanding that God is always there for us.It was nice to see Sister Laurie Orman in attendance and helping with the retreat.

Looking forward to May 31st and June 1st, the combined youth groups invite all parishioners to attend the open house in the church’s youth room.  After the open house on June 1st, we will have an end of year dish to pass picnic for junior and senior high youth group members and their families.

Yours in Christ,

Dave and Sheryl Dreis
